The Setup

This week we’re joined by Michael Son, a long-time friend of Berkley’s who just returned from a couples golf trip to Cabot in Inverness, Nova Scotia. Three couples, three courses, and one of the most celebrated golf destinations on the planet. Michael makes a compelling case that bringing your spouse along might just be the move.

The Format

Three couples flew into Halifax and drove four and a half hours up to Inverness. They stayed one night north of the resort before checking into Cabot for two nights and two rounds — Cabot Cliffs and Cabot Links. After that, they worked their way back down to Halifax with a stop at Fox Harbor for another round and some non-golf activities. The group used Global Golf to handle tee times, lodging, and logistics.

The Hot Takes

  • Cabot Cliffs is ranked #4 in the world and #1 in Canada — Michael gave it a 10/10
  • Cabot Links is no slouch either — high marks, though the wind made scoring tougher
  • Couples trip dynamic — guys played with guys, girls played with girls, and everybody had a blast
  • Fox Harbor as the sleeper hit — beautiful course, tons of activities (archery, axe throwing, fishing, wine), and only an hour from Halifax
  • Canadian dollar advantage — the exchange rate made the trip more affordable than comparable US destinations
  • Walking only — both Cabot courses are walking only, so be ready for it
  • Global Golf handled everything — tee times, lodging, dinner reservations

The Run-It-Back

Michael would absolutely go back, but next time he’d stay at Cabot for three days instead of one, then tack on Fox Harbor at the end. His advice: book the resort, bring your walking shoes, and if you’ve got a spouse who plays golf, bring them — it changes the whole dynamic in the best way possible.
